Could someone let us know the location of two properties about 20 miles from Maitland, namely GLENDON and STANHOPE. Glendon owned by Messrs Scott and Stanhope under the superintendence of Messrs Scott of Glendon and owned by Dr Mitchell of Sydney & Hunter River. A watchman named Edward Thompson, was an assigned servant to Doctor Mitchell at Stanhope 20 miles from Maitland. We are following a murder trial of 9 year old Patrick Cavanagh & 3 mths old Michael Keoghue and attempted murder of Mary Cavanagh and Anastasia Doyle by two aboriginals named Harry and Melville in 1843 who were later found guilty and hung outside Maitland Gaol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. Best wishes Rod & Wendy Gow

My database of convicts, settlers, soldiers etc is now online. The database includes those from Hunter Valley, Brisbane Water, Newcastle. There are about 12,000 entries at the moment and most are pre 1850. I would be interested in your feedback Jenny http://www.jenwilletts.com/
Hi Howard, I'm not sure about the Digest messages - but I have Digest #162 as being received (in my inbox) on 2nd July at 4.09. If you, or anyone else is missing any of the Digests, then let me know "off list" and I can forward it / them on if you want. It may eventually show up ! Due to Rootsweb moving servers and upgrading hardware, the mail has, at times, been delayed (sometimes up to 3-4 days) and this morning I received a whole lot a messages from a number of lists that I am sure I had already received and read .... weird ! A bit like dejavu :) The messages seem to be appearing in the archives OK - often before they actually appear on the list. For the moment anyway, I think it may be best if anyone who sends a message to the list does so - just once only - and just keep in mind that the message may appear on the list straight away, or it may take a few days to come through. Others may also ? be receiving duplicates, but hopefully it should all settle down soon (once they have the gremlins sorted out :) Regards, Diane (Admin) ----- Original Message ----- Subject: [H,H,HV] Delayed Mail and Rootsweb > Diane > Does this account for some missing digest mailings? > > From this list I have digest 161, 163 and 164, received when I arrived > at work Thursday morning, missiong 162 > The same for the Sydney list missing two in the midle of those received. > Howard > Newcastle
Hi, I was looking at the on-line NSW BDM today and noticed that Corah MASKEY (b 1809) has HENRY & MARY listed as her parents. She is supposedly the daughter of John MASKEY and Mary PRITCHARD, and some think the daughter of Samuel TERRY and Mary PRITCHARD (before cohabiting with John MASKEY). Are there any ideas on who this Henry could be, as I am a bit too far away to check any original records at this stage. Could it be possible that TERRY could have been misheard as HENRY? Thankyou for your time, Michelle LINNETH Darwin, NT
