Hello Everyone Did send but only appeared in Archives. I am researching Patrick Hanratty in Parramatta. A convict, he arrived 1802 on "Atlas" 1. In 1809 a notice in the Sydney Gazette says he is in possession of the farm of Mr Holt at the Northern Boundary. Anyone know where this would be??. Patrick married 1. Sarah Wilson and 2. Sarah Primer. Regards June
I'm trying to work out the ancestry of the Neich's of Pitt Town. A John Neich married / de facto Frances Lowe (cant find registration and can't find his parentage) Children John and Alexander. Frances Lowe apparently had 2 brothers with same names. If we go down the line there is a Leon Gallaher. It is possible that John Neich's parents (another de facto liaison) are Emanuel Neich and Mary Cupitt who apparently was a barmaid at the pub "A Bird in the Hand" (appropriate since Emanuel had 2 wives also Mary and between the 3 women, about 30 children). I would love to be able to prove the liaison between Emanuel and Mary Cupitt, also the children they had. Does the pub still exist? Does anyone know these families to shed more light on the whole thing? A John and Alexander Neich married 2 Clark sisters of Pitt Town. Kind regards Lina

Hi all, After a few days 'in the wilderness' let's hope that we will soon be back on the air :) so we can finish off with the last "placenames" group. As soon as it seems that things are back to normal I will send the T-Z group to the list - there seemed little point in doing so to date due to the problems Rootsweb is/was having with their hardware. Strangely enough, all messages seem to be present and accounted for in the daily "Digest" (which I keep an eye on) so those subscribers in this mode don't seem to have missed any messages. Some messages posted to the list from last weekend and during the week have still not appeared in the archives (maybe they will, maybe they won't) and some messages appearing in the archives have not yet been received on the list (or not that I have seen !) They may still come through as there have also been some queueing problems at Rootsweb as well. Just to see how things are going, it's now Thursday Aug. 8 (2 pm.) .... beam me up Scottie :) Regards, Diane Admin

Hi I may be a little late with my "B" town but my families came from Broke. Isaac LANCASTER (aged approx 61yrs) married Mary Ann Rachel SHAW (aged 15yrs) in 1832 - they had a total of 13 children who populated the Hunter Valley and New England regions. "S" Singleton - 1/children of Isaac and Mary Ann Rachel LANCASTER have descendants who still live in Singleton - LANCASTER MOTORS - were started by descendants of Isaac and Mary Ann Rachel. 2/ John WILLIAMS - convict - married fellow convict Mary Jane McANINEY (aka CARMICHAEL) in 1840 in Singleton. Hello Listers, My 2nd cousin on the Snedden/Sweeney line, advises me today, that Sweeney also connects onto her father's family. Details as follows: Myra advises that her uncle Tom Sweeney married Lizzie Conn. He was the son of Elizabeth Therese and John Sweeney, and was born on 13.9.03 and died on 20.2.1995. On checking this information I found the following: Thomas J Sweeney born 1904 parents John and Elizabeth at Newcastle ref 34865 John Sweeney and Elizabeth Phillips married 1894, registered at Wickham ref 7375 John Sweeney died 1945 parents John Sweeney and Elizabeth Theresa at Mayfield ref 26112 Again any help would be appreciated. Was Tom Sweeney who married her aunt, connected to the family of Thomas Sweeney and Mary Gillespie? Their daughter Bridget is her great grandmother. ANNE
Hello listers, I was wondering if someone could be able to help me. My Sweeney research has led me to two very interesting events: To explain the background again details as follows: Thomas Sweeney "Regalia" 1826 and Mary Gillespie, free, "Southworth" 1832 are my ggg grandparents. On Mary's death certificate in 1883 it mentioned that there were 7 children 2 deceased. I have found the following: Bridget born 1834, married James Freel 1854 at West Maitland, and William Raisbeck at his home (son of Thomas Raisbeck and Elizabeth Bowen) in 1909. Bridget died in 1918 in Branxton. Mary born circa 1835 married William Wallace in 1850 in West Maitland, then partnered William Jones (son of William Jones and Sarah Brooks). Mary died in Gunnedah in 1926. Catherine born circa 1837 married John Jackson in 1856 at West Maitland, 2 children known to have survived Mary Ann born in 1857 and Suzannah born in 1862. Whereabouts of family since then unknown. John Sweeney born 1841 (twin)never married, kept his mother until her death on land purchased from Thomas Raisbeck. Mary died in 1883, John left for Gunnedah immediately after the inquest and died at Gunnedah two weeks later. Patrick Sweeney born 1841 (twin) moved to Surat in Queensland after being identified in the 1867 post office directory as a carrier at Branxton. He married Mary Ann O'Brien (born Wollombi, to Michael O'Brien and Margaret Jane Lynch) at Surat, and died at Yelbone Creek station in 1889. I now have found a Thomas Sweeney marrying Bridget Mooney in 1871 at East Maitland. Parents, birth place or age not forthcoming. Witnesses Margaret Sweeney and Cornelius Egan. Children to Thomas and Bridget are: Margaret born 1874 reg 15010 at Murrurundi Bridget born 1876 reg 15799 at Murrurundi Patrick born 1879 reg 18239 at Murrurundi The family then moved to Gunnedah. Rosanna born 1882 reg 17561 Elizabeth Esther born 1884 I then found the witnesses to the Sweeney married were already married to each other! Marriage 1866 Margaret Sweeney to Cornelius Egan at West Maitland reg 2307 Again no Parents, Birth place or date forthcoming. Children born to this marriage are Philip Egan born 1866 ref 10665 parents Cornelius and Margaret at Maitland Patrick Egan born 1873 ref 13133 parents Cornelius and Margaret at Maitland Cornelius Egan born 1876 ref 17460 parents Cornelius and Margaret at Nundle Margaret Egan born 1880 ref 24675 parents Cornelius and Margaret at Tamworth Then I found the following: Margaret Egan died 1890 ref 6803, parents Thomas and Margaret at Paddington (could the family be confused and forget that Margaret's mother's name was Mary, she only died in 1883). Maybe the family lost contact with each other, and thought that each other was dead. If her parents were Thomas and Mary, and Thomas was her brother, then I have found the 7 siblings of Thomas Sweeney and Mary Gillespie. Cornelius Egan died Sydney 1911 ref 8642 Parents Philip and ? Oh what an exciting day!!! now to order the transcripts. Hope this connects with someone. ANNE
