    3. Hello Margaret. I am interested in your HAND listing. I am seeking descendants of Richard HAND. He married twice, it seems: First: in 1861 to Elizabeth MOORHEAD at Bega. She died in 1884. No issue known. Second: in 1886 to Emily A. THOMSON at Petersham in Sydney. They seem to have had at least 3 daughters: Lucy, Marjory, and Edith R. From the NSW BD&M indexes it seems that: Richard HAND died 1918 at Chatswood in Sydney. Emily HAND died 1916 at Chatswood. Also that: Marjory HAND married Ernest W. WATTS in 1928 in Sydney; and Edith HAND married William J. PALMER in 1915 at Auburn in Sydney. I'd love to be in touch with anyone from these families please. 2. Carol Dale
    3. Dear list, I too will take up the invitation in respect of listing my family interests. I am writing a family history of the Fogarty and related families, which spread from Tamworth to Singleton. There are so many interesting names that I have split them up alphabetically. Here is installment one. I will post the rest in batches, over the next month, so as not to clog the list. Alderton, Avard, Ballantine, Batterham, Brayshaw, Carter, Caslick, Chaffey, Challis, Collison, Cone, Corbett, Cundy, Fallon, Fogarty, Gardner, Golledge, Greer, Gunter, Haworth, Hemmings, Henry, Hewett, Heyman, Hitchens Please contact me off list if you are researching any of the above. More than happy to provide what I have (but no guarantees on its authenticity, as it has been gathered from many sources, not all verified) Happy Hunting Carol Dale

    3. Hi everyone.... I'm new to the list. Interest is in Thomas Walker and wife Mary Ann Mahoney, my great grandparents. He was Postmaster at Kurrajong Heights in 1870's. I am particularly interested at the moment in any information re Daniel and Alvina Packer (nee Everingham), and daughter Mary Alice, born Sackville ca 1908 who married an Arthur S Hanchett in 1919. Does anyone have access to a look up in the Everingham genealogy books? Thanks Don Walker Heathcote NSW

Hello Ann, I am pretty sure that about 20 years ago there was a sign to Maryland somewhere in the north, because my father used to point it out to me on the road to Toowoomba, we used to pass Maryland and Kentucky (nr Uralla). Can't recall where it was though. Hope this is a clue for you Robert

    2. Diane
    3. Hi Ann, Gordon and others, Ann ... I concur with you, as I have the same family in "the tree", and like you they are not a direct line. James Gilbert ASSER (son of Nathaniel and Mary) m. Edith Rebecca DIXON. The DIXON's come in on my g.grandfather's side of the family (thru one of his sister's children). Small world eh :) Gordon ... I have replied to off-list. FWIW ... according to "Annie Asser's Diary", edited by A.M. Entwisle, published by the Scone and Upper Hunter Hist. Soc. (ISBN 0 9598071 9 5), an unpublished record of the ASSER family (compiled by K. KINGSMILL) is held in the Society's archives ... If you don't have them, Nathaniel (b. 1825) ASSER's parents were Nathaniel Frederick ASSER (again !) & Mary SHERWIN. Sorry, but I don't have any dates. All the best, Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Carson" <amcarson500@optusnet.com.au> Subject: RE: [H,H,HV] New member interests CONNOLLY-ROSE-ASSER- MCGINNIS-URQUHART ETC > Hello Gordon and Diane > > I also have an ASSER in my family, though not my direct line - just a > connection by marriage. 3. Thank you Rob and Wendy, They are definitely the families I am researching. My father was John R.G.WILBOW, son of John Thomas b. 1862 and died in 1936 and Louisa Ginger. My mother was Gertrude, the daughter of Josph CONLAN born 1850 and Hannah Mary CULLEN. Hannah Mary was the Grandaughter of James HARRISON and Jane HOWE, all Hawkesbury River people. I would be interested in some more information about the availability of the books that you mentioned, particularly the one that mentions Bernard CONLAN and CONLAN's farm. Thank you for your reply Margaret HEYWOOD.

    1. [H,H,HV] BORTHWICK, BROUN / BROWN and many others
    2. Ann Carson
    3. In response to Diane's invitation some of the names I am researching are: BORTHWICK -- my own family in Australia commencing with William Murray Borthwick who arrived in 1833 and eventually settled at Inverell following some years in the Hunter district. I would love to trace his movements in the Hunter. All I know is that he worked for William COX of "Hobartville" for two years and for Colonel DUMARESQ for two years. Another clue is that in the 1839 Post Office directory for NSW William Murray Borthwick and his son John are listed at Murrurundi, one at a place named Maryland, which I have been unable to trace. (If it was there own place it could have been named after Maryland in Glasgow.) Murrurundi and District Historical Society has been unable to help so if anyone on the list has any ideas at all about "Maryland" Murrurundi I would be truly delighted to hear! One Borthwick son, John, married Anne CLIFT, daughter of Samuel Clift of Maitland and Breeza, and another son married Catherine Elizabeth Amelia MAYO. There are many other Hunter district marriages and connections within the family. As well as researching my own family I am doing a BORTHWICK worldwide One Name Study (registered with the Guild of One name Studies). So I am interested in any Borthwick information at all, anywhere in the world. I have posted a great deal of Borthwick data on my web site for other Borthwick researchers to share. Another side of my family, the BROUN / BROWN family had Hunter connections, originally living at "Colstoun" Upper Paterson. While the BROUNS are being researched by other family members, including Charlotte who is a member of this list, I am always interested in sharing information and hope to fully research my own line of the BROUN (in our line more commonly known as BROWN) family at some point. Best wishes to all on the list for a peaceful, happy and healthy 2003. If anyone on the list has connections to the other families I'd be interested. There are other RUTLEDGE connections in my BORTHWICK family. My maternal gt grandmother, Hannah Railton BARKER born Parish of Houghton, Cty of Durham, NSW in 1848 married Alfred George HATCH in 1871 at Hastings Sussex. Am wondering if any of the HATCH clan went to Aus?
