A very sad indictment indeed. 3. I read in the Daily Telegraph on Friday about the wilful damage done to Waverley Cemetery during the week, $50,000 damage.....it is sad that these sacred markers are destroyed by thoughtless idiots. On another note re cemeteries, the Hawkesbury Gazette (15.1.2003 p. 15) reports that 2 graves dating from the 1830s are to be relocated from the Windsor Catholic Cemetery due to RTA road widening for flood free access. Macquarie Street is to be widened as part of this process and the grave of Thomas Gill who died 1833 and another unreadable stone will be relocated within the cemetery. These would be some of the oldest headstones in the cemetery. 3. Evening all, on a sultry Saturday night, Here in the Hills today it was 45 degrees ... wow !! Last week some unknown persons (morons for want of a better word) stole a heep of bronze vases, valued at thousands of dollars, from a number of memorials at the Castlebrook Cemetery & Crematoria at Rouse Hill. After hearing a 'fleeting mention' on the radio, was thinking that the old Christ Church Cemetery had been vandalised, but, thankfully, this was not the case. It remains safe and sound ! Some people really need to get a life and have a bit more respect ! Just my gripe for the week folks ... Diane

    1. [H,H,HV] New To The List - HARPUR
    2. Jennie Rediger
    3. Hi Everybody, I am new to the list, and I am researching Joseph HARPUR who arrived on the "Royal Admiral" in 1800. Joseph married Sarah CHIDLEY and they settled around Windsor. Joseph was the Schoolmaster at Windsor and father of Joseph HARPUR, member for Patricks Plains, and Charles HARPUR, Australia's first Poet. Sarah remarried in 1847 to John WELSH/WALSH, father of Bridget Walsh who married Ben Hall. Does anybody have any information on William HARPUR who came on the "Royal Admiral" with Joseph? I would love to hear from you. 3. I have a Broughton/Golding/Page connection Marie, although it is not a direct one. I have a Bonnie Colless marrying a Robert James Broughton Golding. in 1941 in Sydney. Bonnie's ?sister Hilda May Colless married an Albert James Page in Newtown in 1908. This line is my maternal grandmother's and all her family were inner Sydney Waterloo, Alexandria, Redfern and then Mascot and Botany. The Page and Colless families were very wellknown Nepean area families. Bonnie is a bit of a mystery. Although I have her parents as Harriett Ann Wright and James Wm Colless I don't know where I got this info. I am sure though about Hilda. Let's hope we find a connection cheers Sandra in Maryborough Qld ----- Original Message ----- From: <AUS-NSW-HILLS-HAWKESBURY-HUNTER-VALLEY-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <AUS-NSW-HILLS-HAWKESBURY-HUNTER-VALLEY-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 13, 2003 10:00 AM Subject: AUS-NSW-HILLS-HAWKESBURY-HUNTER-VALLEY-D Digest V03 #10

    2. Dear Carol, You say that you live in Melbourne? Are you a member of the Genealogical Society of Victoria? The Society has the NSW probate index and from there you can write to the Supreme Court and request copies. It would be best to telephone first to ascertain the cost: off-hand I think the price rose to around $36 per will. The telephone number is: 02 9228 7380 address: Supreme Court of new South Wales Probate office GPO Box 3 Sydney NSW 2001 website: www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/sc

    3. Looking for origin of the above elusive gentleman and his wife Hannah Jones who had a son William A B N Page baptised at East Maitland in 1884. The family appeared to have been in Sydney, the child's birth having been registered at Waterloo, but other children are born/baptised around Robertson on the Southern Highlands. Perhaps they had family at Maitland? Any Page researchers out there? Marie in Sydney
