Hi Listers, Researching James Davison who arrived on the 'Coromandel' in 1802 free with his wife Jane Johnston and two sons John and James aged 3 and 4. I have written to Anne Shirley from Ross Street Belmont who was a contributor to the Hawkesbury Pioneer Register Volume 2 regarding the Davison family and have had no reply. Could someone advise if this is still her current address. Cheers Terri Jeffery
Hello fellow researchers and others with an interest in history: I am researching my family history, which has taken me back to George Stanford, Farmer of North Richmond (born Richmond 1829) and his wife, Eliza Stanford (nee Shepherd), born Windsor District 1845. Also, Eliza's parents, John Shepherd (also known as "Flemings Jack") , who was transported from Ireland on the Lord Meville from Dublin, Ireland in 1830. He was assigned to Joseph Fleming, a free settler at Wilberforce. He married Amelia Parker (born 25 Sept 1828 at Wilberforce in 1845 at St Johns Chapel, Wilberforce. Also Amelia Parkers parents, Daniel Packer and Elizabeth Rebecca Furness, who married 3 July 1827 at Wilberforce Seeking to exchange any information with other interested parties, and to obtain any information. Hi Alan, Thanks for the interest. Yes I do have this information. I am fortunate I do have a reasonable amount of information on Jacob Porter. Hello Russell Are you aware that there is an entry in the Singleton Pioneer Register on Jacob Porter. It says that he was born c.1799 in Gloucestershire, arr. 1820, m. Grace Thomson 1835. Regards Alan Alan.Eade at bigpond.com
Hi Alan, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I am satisfied that I am not part of this Porter family. My ancestor was Jacob Porter from county Oxfordshire England and subsequent lines of the family changed the name to Porters. > Dear Terri, Noticed you are researching JAMES DAVISON (died 1831). Dont know if he is the same person but here is a reference to a James Davison (pioneer) in the Windsor & Richmond Gazette newspaper 1916-1920 index to births deaths marriages inquests obituaries probates etc, that we recently published. This index and the micro film reels of the newspaper are available at the Hawkesbury Library (Windsor). It may be worth a look as some of the articles featured in the newspaper relate to early events, some dating back to the late 1700s written by historians over 100 years later. There are also 10 other entries for Davison. There are also another 12 entries in the 1911-20 index to various Davison names but none to the pioneer. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Terri Jeffery" <jefferyeltham@bigpond.com> > Subject: [H,H,HV] Davison Family > > > Hi List, > > I am looking for descendants and information of James Davison who > > arrived on the Coromandel early 1800's. Hi Judy, Sometimes it's a good idea if you can you let others know what you "already know" about these families and what sort of "help" you are looking for. The more "clues" you provide makes it easier for others to know whether 1. if there is a connection or 2. if they may be able to offer some assistance. For example, do you have specific names, do you know when/where they came from; what area/s they were bred, born, wed, dead (as someone once said), dates or time-frame/s, are the families related and so on. Just a suggestion, as the more "clues" you provide .... the better :) Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Coppini" <judycoppini@optusnet.com.au> Subject: [H,H,HV] re Penrith & Windsor Areas > Hello, could anyone help me with the families, Harmond, Sutton, > Merz, Purcell, Evans and Nairn, all from the area of Windsor and > Penrith?
