Hello Marg & Everyone (I'm resending this as I sent it to the wrong address...sorry), John COCKCROFT married Jane Ann Turner at the Church of England Kincumber on 13 May 1846. They had the following children in the Gosford/ Brisbane Waters district: 1. William Cockcroft in 1847 2. James Cockcroft in 1848 (died in 1875 in Sydney) 3. Mary Ann Cockcroft in 1849 (married Andrew Hemepy in 1871 at Brisbane Waters) 4. Eliza Cockcroft in 1854 (died unmarried in 1870 in Brisbane Waters) 5. Ann A. Cockcroft in 1861 John Cockcroft was listed in the 1872 Greville Directory: Name: COCKCROFT, John Location of Event: Gosford, New South Wales Date: 1872 Occupation: carrier Notes: Source: Grevilles Post Office Directory, 1872, New South Wales. John Cockcroft died in 1901 in Gosford. Jane Ann had died in 1890, also at Gosford. I am related to Jane Ann Turner. Jane was the daughter of William Turner (convict) and Margaret Bates. When Margaret Bates married again to Philip Fitzpatrick, their eldest daughter Sarah Fitzpatrick married William CREIGHTON. I wonder if Sarah and William met because her older half-sister Jane & John Cockcroft knew the Creighton family at Gosford? Any descendents? Regards Wendy McKenzie
