    3. Hello Gwen & Everyone, thank you very much Gwen for the information on John Cockcroft. All I had was what I could find through the NSWBDM & Greville Directory so your information is terrific. I too have noticed the crossover of dates in December/January registrations. Deaths were probably registered promptly (within weeks) but births as you say were often Baptisms and could be years out in the early days. I also once ordered a death certificate from the NSWBDM that turned out to be a burial certificate and didn't have the information I was hoping for ... it was an early one ... 1826! I shall now have the fun of finding out all about John Cockcroft's past as a convict. I am still wondering why Jane Ann Turner married on the Central Coast when she was from Sydney. I do not recognise any of the witness names ... yet! Sounds like John Cockcroft was a jack-of-all-trades. How enterprising one had to be in those days, especially when one had a family to support.
