    3. Hello Judy, Re your additions to the Pearl Beach comments for Kay, the Estate there was actually on sale in 1926 - my copy of the brochure published by C R Staples & Co was an update I think. The Gosford Times of 7 January 1926, which has a long article in it about the estate, mentions this brochure for prospective buyers of land at the new resort location. The developers had cut a road around the the bottom of cliff face of Mount Ettalong for access to the estate, and the above article stated that it was now "open for traffic". In the first half of 1935 part of this road collapsed and talks were held about the need to build a new road. A further portion of the road washed away over two days in June 1936, hence the construction of the current route. The Woy Woy Herald of 7 January 1938 gave space to details of the birthday party enjoyed by the village's first baby, Carl Hilton Ferguson ..."a notable event"...he was one year old. The same paper's issue of 29 July 1938 recorded the fact that Pearl Beach now had a phone service and post office, and there was also a public phone installed at Ferguson's store .... to be ready on 2 August. All this has nothing to do with the naming of Pearl Beach, but what the heck? Regards to all, Gwen
