Dear Listers Here is an excuse for a nice day out ! The Pearl Beach community has formed a Heritage Committee and on 16-17th April will be holding a display in the Community Hall, Diamond Road 9am-5pm Sat & Sun. We would welcome contact with anyone researching family who have lived at Pearl Beach at any time. We are also photographing all the houses in Pearl Beach (it is 80 years after the first land subdivision this year) and hope to establish the history of residence in each house, We are also interested to hear from anyone with any information regarding activities at Pearl Beach (eg the RSL club, the surf club the shops etc) and hope to take oral histories from older residents (past and present). we want information on the earliest grants (William MOSELY & William BARTON and Rock DAVIS plus of course Elizabeth MURRAY nee EVANS) and any references to early Pearl Beach would be gratefully received. The exhibition will be opened at 2pm Saturday by Chris MASTERS, ABC journalist and several books on pearl Beach will be available for sale: Pearl Beach- Early Days by Ben SMITH Pearl Beach Legacy by Joan Webb (story of Minard Crommelin and the Arboretum and National Park) Gwen Dundon's wonderful book "Shipbuilders of Brisbane Water" will also be featured, and some copies are still available. . All are welcome to attend. Self guided tours of the Arboretum and the village's Significant Trees and a great restaurant and cafe make this a great way to spend a day!
