Wendy, My understanding is that the land where Adelene Retirement Village is situated now was owned by members of the Ward family until the 1970s when Adelene was built. This family are descendants of a rather well known pioneer - Manassah Ward. (Not sure how Manassah spelt his name). I see some of the Ward family who lived in Maidens Brush Rd at times so will check what they know. I haven't seen them since last Tuesday night at a meeting but may not catch up with them for a few weeks.
