Hi Folks I think that the James Mitchell under discussion, an early landowner in today's Wyoming, is surgeon James Mitchell (1792 - 1869). He was one of the early colony's largest land-holders and richest men, and father of David Scott Mitchell, of Mitchell Library fame. There are 3 pages devoted to Mitchell snr in the ADB (Australian Dictionary of Biography). It's found in any library - pages 235 - 238. Cheers Liz P
