Hi folks I'm researching my BEVAN ancestry in Dilwyn, Herefordshire. I notice that the IGI entry for a William BEAVEN, b. Dilwyn 11 Mar 1810, suggests he died in Yarramalong. His grandfather was my gggg-grandfather, and I'd be very interested to hear from any Australian descendants. I'm also posting this to the Hunter Valley list, because the archive for that list came up on a web search for 'Beaven and Yarramalong' Regards Mike Bevan

Hi Mike, Some of the Bevan, Fernance and Bridge families are related and resided in the Yarramalong and Hunter Valley regions and are listed in the Pioneer Register of Cessnock, I have noted an entry for William in the book and happy to do some look ups for you. Our Wells family also married into these families somewhere along the line. I am a direct descendant of William BEAVEN. He was one of my ggg-grandfathers. I have some information on him and his descendants which I'm happy to send to you. I have also tried to trace his ancestry in Herefordshire but found that rather difficult from this side of the world. Apparently they lived at a place called Headland, which is a small farm or hamlet near Dilwyn. Was your gggg-grandfathers name Michael BEVAN ? By the way, William's brother George who I think was born about 1815 emigrated with his wife and children in the 1840's and settled near Wollombi, not too far from the Yarramalong.
