Hi Ted Now I'm wondering > if that was more an assumption that fact and it had more > to do with this > lady and/or her family? Pretty sure that is the case I'm also not familiar with "Cobbs Hill" do you know I think this was the name of their farm . Charles COBB is listed in the NSW 1901 census ( name index only survives) as being in sub district of Ourimbah/ Tuggarah. Locality Wyong Creek. Were 3 males and 4 females living there > if this was at Wyong or Tuggerah? The Council have re named Cobb's Road Wyong Road . . Its in Tuggarah and inter sects Gavenlock Road These days there is a massive Westfields shopping centre on the left hand side going towards to F3 and an equally massive housing development ........ Woodbury Park Estate on the other side There is a brief mention to Cobb's Hill and the COBB family on p 154 in Charles Swancotts Blue Gum Flat to Budgewoi book bye MargM Central Coast List Admin
Hi Marg, Oh, I know the area very well spending my youth walking down Cobbs Road to school at Tuggerah Primary and scouring the hills and countryside with my brothers and cousins. My father (b.1907) would have a fit if he were alive today and saw the development down that road and the rest of the coast. He always said he believed he lived in the best of times depression and all. I was recently talking to a fellow who's family has had property at Tuggerawong around the 1930/40's he had similar sentiments. He feels he lived in at time that we won't see again, reflecting more on the natural state of the coast. We did get chatting about the area as he had quite a few old photos on the wall. He told me Edward Stinson used to live nearby and would often sit peacefully viewing the lake. He called it his church.
