    3. I have placed this request here as Marg and others are so knowledgeable on a huge range of topics, and hope someone can give an answer. Does anyone know if there were proper records kept of immigrants in early 1960's ? In this case last port would be Finland. How could one find where they are stored ? Who would be in charge on these records? (to write or ring) Would such a person be allowed to see their (&/or husband's) records? I would be most grateful for any answers to these questions as a Finnish lady who immigrated with her husband in the early 1960's, is now told there is no record of her entry, but the husband is listed. She is not allowed to become an Australian citizen, vote, receive a Passport etc and was told she is 'illegal' even though they have lived here over 40 years, bought property etc. Any help gratefully received. 3. They are at the National Archives. You give them the name of the person, its on a microfilm and they will tell you if the file is open access. If it is you get to see it. If not you have to wait.
