Thank you for the welcome to your list. My grandfather was Joseph William John BOOTH and he built and operated the hall at Hardys Bay for many years. Born in UK, went to the Boer War, then to Australia, married, off to the Great War and tried to enlist in the 2nd World War. He worked on the Gosford - Kilcare road during the depression. He wrote articles in the SMH under the name "Zambesi Joe". Tales of Africa, as he stayed on a bit after the Boer War. I am yet to see any of these articles! His first house in the area was called "Zambesi" and it was situated behind the hall. My mother and her brothers went to school at Pretty Beach. Her teacher a Mr. Allan. He later built "Twin Trees" in The Crescent at Kilcare. Many pleasant childhood holidays spent there. I have early photos of the hall and family. Kind regards, Bill Johnson.
