Gosford Times Friday 20 Oct 1905 The woman question A curious phrase of 'the woman question' has cropped up . What is to be done with women who interrupt public meetings ? Mr Deakin at a recent immigration meeting was persistently interrupted by two or three of these disturbers, who had apparently made up their minds to combat any favourable illusion to immigration . The chairman reminded them that admission was by ticket, and that interruption could not be allowed. Finally he threatened them with expulsion Later an official attempted to remove one of then from the hall. there was at once a 'scene' The chivalry of the meeting protested , and the fair or unfair disturber was left unmolested . Now, a female interrupter is as fatal to the success of a meeting as a male . The latter is usually amenable to the sarcasm or ridicule which public speakers keep on tap for such occasions. If this is ineffective he can be 'fired out' without ceremony . But women, as a rule, have no sense of humour and it appears they cant be 'fired out' Unless some way is discovered out of this difficulty public meetings will be best by a new terror (Were no names so dont know who these interrupters were ....... !) Good progress is being made with the re erection of the old Church of England building on the West Gosford site. The additions the old/new structure will be quite an adornment to the picturesque church grounds For painless extraction of aching teeth go to R VERVON, Dentist, Gosford MargM Central Coast List Admin
