Marg, I found your old Gosford Times snippet very interesting regarding work on the Kincumber to Lloyds Wharf Road, tender from A. Davis. I wonder if "Lloyd's" was a misprint in the newspaper for "Lyde's" as old maps show a road running south from Kincumber called by this name. Lyde's Wharf on Cockle Creek opposite St Hubert's Island, was on the Daniel Egan grant (Portion 98) a property better known as Merritt's Wharf, now part of Empire Bay. The owner James F. Merrett (this spelling shows in later records) referred to his home there as being at "Old Point". The road or track referred to above followed more or less for some distance along what is now Empire Bay Drive. Who was Lyde? Does anyone know please? Best wishes, Gwen
