From the Guardian newspaper 30 Oct 1952 Air Taxi service will soon be operating from The Entrance and Wyong if there are enough travellers The Sydney Air Taxi with a 3 passenger plane are seeking to re-open a portion of the old Entrance air strip on the Gosford Road ( that is approx opposite where the Bay Village Shopping Centre is now ) I wonder if this got off the ground ? bye MargM Central Coast List Admin
Seeing Marg's item about airstrips near Bateau Bay reminds me of when I first arrived on the Coast to begin teaching in the Woy Woy area in 1970. I was lead to believe that the reddish gravel that was prominent at the time parallel to Trafalgar Ave near Waterloo Ave was the remains of an old airstrip. Is this in fact correct and if so when was this strip operational? David
I can remember as a child, there was an airstrip off in the scrub somewhere near Foresters Beach. Never went there though!
