    3. From the Gosford Times, 16.2.1906: Death of Constable John WALLACE, who lost his life at Newtown, Sydney "on Sunday last under the most sad and tragic circumstances...." He was well-known old time identity of Gosford, and for 12 years past a popular member of the Sydney Police Force. He was sent to quell a disturbance between a man and the people with whom he had been living, when he was shot down by the man who was armed with a rifle and a revolver. WALLACE died shortly afterward in hospital. He had been a store-keeper in gosford, where he married a Miss AGGETT, "daughter of our late lamented Senior Constable John AGGETT". He left a wife and two children. ........................................................................... From the Sydney Morning Herald, 25.6.1931: Mrs Jessie JARDINE LANG (nee Dr Jessie WYPER - second doctor to practise at Woy Woy). ............................................................................. From Town and Country Journal, Sydney, Saturday 19.8.1893: John McCOIG, superintendent of the State Forest Nursery at Gosford, was found drowned in Narara Creek on Tues morning. About 50. Wrote in T&CJ as "Propagator". When he first came to Australia he was employed at Brisbane Botanical gardens, then as gardener for Mr RANKIN at Goulburn, then to Mr CROUDACE of the Scottish Aust Mining Co. He started the Gosford Nursery and has been in Gov service for about 10 years. From The Advocate, Wyong, 7.11.1935: Obit Robert BROWNLEE of Ocean Parade, The Entrance, aged 57, former sawmill owner of Ourimbah. Born Hamilton, Scotland, and left there at early age with parents for NZ, but came to Sydney at age 6. Was latterly in a partnership with Taylors at The Entrance, as Taylor Bros and Brownlee boats. Left widow and four children. Masonic funeral at Wamberal Cemetery. ............................................................................. From The Gosford Times, 21.6.1917: James GLASSON, a well-known resident of Gosford, died Sat last, aged 65. Native of Cornwall, "came to Australia about 20 years ago". Was a gold miner on the principal fields of Victoria, WA and NSW and suffered many vicissitudes. Came from Merrylands, Sydney, about 1911 to Gosford where his son at that time carried on business of baker and pastrycook. For past five years deceased had kept a little shop at the corner of Mann St and Wingello Road. Twice married, left two sons by first marriage, and widow and one son by the second. Buried Bradys Gully Cemetery, North Gosford. ............................................................................... From The Gosford Times Fri 25.8.1899: Death of Mr James P. LEWIS, a resident of Tuggerah. Left his home last Sunday morning to attend to a boat on the lake, did not return on time, and was subsequently found dead on the beach some distance from his residence. Heart failure. Born at Maidenhead, Berkshire, England in 1838, and was a veteran of the Crimean War. For many years lived in Maitland, but had recently taken up a selection at Tuggerah.
