It sounds like the case mentioned on pp. 21-22 of Charles Swancott's "Blue Gum Flat to Budgewoi": "On 9/1/1861, before the Bench of Magistrates one George Knight was charged with stealing the sum of £43/1/- in money and other things, the property of a blind man named John Robley." It makes fascinating reading. Swancott ends the tale with "Knight was committed for trial", quoting the reference "Depositions 1855/72 pages 57/68." I wonder what the outcome was?
