Dear CC Listers I got a severe attack of the gene bug back in February 1990 while up in Rockhampton sorting out the estate of my husbands fathers 2nd wife All Freds gt gparents were living in Rockhampton before 1900 By sheer fluke I stumbled on a very large framed photo of one lot of these gt grandparents This was wrapped in a blanket and bought home from its lonely sojourn in an antique shop Was no way I could have left it in that shop. These days its the centrepiece of my rogues gallery as its surrounded by many other old family photos that I have collected Was alot of error and trial in my first year or so of research and still is sometimes :-) . My car got to know its own way to the LDS at Charlestown ( Gosford LDS didnt open till about 1994) I bought my first computer in 1992 with the latest of inventions, a modem. This had a speed of 2400 BPS and the computer was a 386 Amstrad. I soon discovered the FidoNet BBS system and was hooked I joined the SAG about 1994 and the Central Coast FHG about the same time. Started up a CC DPS in April of this year and a mailing list in August I am the CC FHS research officer Doing research for others is a huge learning curve and have been doing it for some years. Being a Ten Pound Pom and a 31 yr old Aussie by choice I have no local family connections at all but that doesnt stop me being interested in the history of this area Have a project which is on the back burner at the moment of finding out about early medical services to abt 1900 There are alot of fence sitters in the 69 subscribers to this list ! How about you introduce yourselves ????? Lets get some discussion going . Who among you have local families ? and who dont ? bye Marg Morters NSW Central Coast Mailing List Gosford, NSW Australia [email protected]
