Dear List. I have just read Dorothy's note and agree with the sentiments - but I have already said this to a correspondent in New Zealand, who sent me that same message a week ago. I don't know where it came from originally or where it has been since but despite the sincerity and the undoubted importance of it these lists are NOT the place for these messages. They are, as Dorothy says, CHAIN LETTERS. We oldies probably know more about them than you youngsters. No they aren't a new idea. But now you can flood the place with them, without even a stamp. Please consider what an embarrassment they might be to someone you write to who uses a work address. Many people just copy the entire address book and some people will receive these messages back from all over the place. This is not an original thought.
