    3. Gwen, Many, many thanks for these Robley references. They are tantalising - I really must try to track down these "other" Robleys. It's an uncommon name, so there could be a reasonably close connection a generation or so earlier, perhaps. I have been in touch with Robley researchers in Cumberland, England. There are still lots and lots of Robleys in Carlisle (where the Gosford/Wyong John Robley's grandfather came from). I have also been in touch with Roblee (sic) researchers in USA. They don't seem to be connected to the English Robleys. (They seem to stem from a "Raplee" origin, European, but not British). I'm writing this on Sunday evening.
