Hi Gwen and List, Seeing you asked Railway buffs the question I thought I might stir the pot with this snippet. >From 125 years of the Sydney to Parramatta Railway. R.G.Preston NSW Rail Transport Museum. 26th September 1855. It is believed that engine No 3 hauled this history making train (Sydney-Parramatta) with Samuel Twiss at the regulator and Peter Woods on the shovel. The guard was James Robinson affectionally known as "Old Ben" An aunt of Sam Twiss chiseled on his tombstone "Drove the first passenger train to Parramatta". Regards, Col Dundon in Sydney. If you see a light at the end of the tunnel make sure it's not a train coming towards you. www.geocities.com/oppy_au Dundon Family. www.geocities.com/schweikert_au/ Schweikert Family. www.geocities.com/kilrush_ireland/ Kilrush Co.Clare. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gwen Dundon" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 04, 2001 6:56 PM Subject: Sixsmith surname > William Sixsmith was the driver of the first train in NSW, between Sydney > and Parramatta in the 1850s (think that's right, railway buffs??).
