I didnt anticipate answering as such > Could you please tell me if it is worth joining the SAG (and I know from you > that it means Society of Australian Genelology-)?? One of the first things to learn with any hobby or job is the language .There are quite alot of acronyms in this geneaalogy hobby and the SAG is indeed Society of Australian Genealogists whose premises are in Sydney. You give no clue to your location so dunno whether SAG would be helpful of not . If you live interstate but had alot of family roots in NSW it could be useful to be a member. But you could as well to join the gene society of which ever is the best State for you . > What type of information can we get from the SAG ? Genealocial world wide . Australia England Ireland and Scotland in particular > Do they have research facilities over the internet??? Presently their site is more of an info one about the soiciety They are slowly getting their library catalogue on line Land Titles Office.. > Do they have seperate ones in each state?? What LTO ? Of course . Land Title is a State Goverment instumentality > What type of information can be gained from them?? History of land title > Can any be accessed via the internet??? Not for NSW . There is an info web site , which I think form memory is www.lto.nsw.gov.au but you either need to go there or get someone to go there for you. . The Land records office for Victoria was going on line but dunno if this has happened yet Bye Marg Morters NSW Central Coast Mailing List Gosford, NSW Australia [email protected]
