    3. Hi Everyone I am doing research into a house my father (Alexander N. CHARLES) owned in Amethyst Avenue PEARL BEACH in the 1950’s. I stumbled across mention of him in the list archives which I was very happy to see. I am hoping to find old photos and information on this 5 acres that my father had in at least 1958, I have one small photo of me sitting in the front of the house? perhaps, not much detail of the house can be seen though unfortunately. This is what I found yesterday whilst trying to find the current owners of the house in Amethyst Avenue. I have emailed Kay at the email address here, but as it is old it may not work now. Thanks for any help. Kind regards Dianna From: Kay Williams <[email protected]> Subject: PEARL BEACH - Lease holders Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 For our next Pearl Beach Heritage Weekend exhibition in April 2006, we are hoping to research the following families who held lease-holdings on 8 five-acre blocks at Pearl Beach. 3. I’m still here, not researching family, now working on a history of the south coast timber industry as a PhD, but with lots of links into the north coast and lots of links into all the families. I’m one of Edward Davis and Lydia Piper’s descendants. An example of the links, I am currently writing up the story of Alexander Berry and the cedar and timber trade in the 1820s. Turns out that in the early 1820s he seems to have had a joint timber getting operation at Narara with Augustus Hely, and I have names of the sawyers and timber workers who were there. Alexander Berry also returned from a trip to England in 1821 on the Royal George. Eber Bunker was a passenger on the ship - I seem to remember that he had a connection with Gosford and the Settrees? Has anyone heard of a W J Sutherland who was a supervisor for Berry & Wollstonecraft in the early 1820s? Was highly numerate and had copperplate handwriting. I often feel a little uncomfortable with the thought that my ancestor played a part in the clearing of the area. However, also, very pleased that he as a convict became so well known in the Kiama area. Kind regards. 3. Dear Patrick Windows has an tool called SNIPPING Tool. This allows you to copy All or selected section of a screen and save it as a jpeg or copy into a word, excel etc. I used the Snipping Tool on the new version of NSW BDMs where I copied the list and pasted it to word document without any problem. There is also a free program called FastStone Capture which performs a similar function. Hint whatever screen capture program you use pin it to your taskbar and it is available as required and saves switching screens to activate the screen capture program. I am often searching for a name from a particular place or suburb an could get a list of ten or twelve names on a single A4 and now they are spread over four or five pages and there seems to be no way of consolidating them. Rather than chop down a small forest to get my dozen names, I have taken to hand transcribing what the website shows me, hand transcribing in the digital age seems like a backward step to me or maybe I just don't know how to exploit the system as yet, comments and help most gratefully received Patrick Callaghan ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi Warwick I'm not sure where to get the book, but since I had not heard of them I'd love to find them myself. I was also interested in your reference to Stan Fry and have a feeling your talking about Stanley Fry born 1923 Gosford? Stan Fry was married to Elaine Wilson. Elaine is my ex mother in laws sister!! I did a google search and apparently these authors have an event on 12 jul at Gosford library to release another book about mann st. tickets available on Eventbrite. I have decided to go as very interested since a few of my ancestors lived in Mann St as well.
