Dear Listers Did any of you try the mumma of all search engines , Well one of them anyway ........ ! that I mentioned a few days ago ? This one is different in that you download it first from www.copernic.com Doesnt take long. It searches about a dozen other search engines so is quicker than if you were to search 12 individually Bye Marg Morters List Owner NSW Central Coast Mailing List Gosford, NSW Australia

Ottawa. ******************** Hello Robyn I had an ancestor, Michael Charles TREANOR, teaching in a Roman Catholic School at East Gosford 1850-2: He wasn't the first there though and it wasn't the first school. The building no longer exists. The Local Studies Librarian at Gosford Library could help further re earliest schools. As to the local Schools from 1848 when Kempsey was the first school to join the Government School System, Gosford government Schools were established as follows: Gosford PS 1865 (+ 1 earlier??) Gosford East PS 1960 Gosford High 1929 Gosfgord Farm Home (Mt Penang) 1913 - Child Welfare School by that name to c1945. **************************** from Kay Williams at Pearl Beach, on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia 2256 *****************************

Hullo Re my earlier message, I had it solved for me. Something similar may also work for you non-Mac people. > >As you are probably now aware, the one-off change to daylight saving >in Canberra has not been reflected in your Date and Time on your >Macs. Please do the following: > >Open the Date and Time Control Panel. > >Do NOT alter the time. > >Uncheck "Set Daylight-Saving Time Automatically" > >Check "Daylight-Saving Time is in effect" > >Close the Date and Time Control Panel. > >Please remember to do this on all systems including servers. Mine is now on DLS OK Frank Cardiff East Gosford NSW 2250 Australia
Hi Robin in Ottawa Gosford primary school was opened in 1877 and some of the old building still exists and is part of our technical college. I went there in the late 1940's until the site was changed. Last year an excellent book was published on the history of Gosford High School and it details various facts about the establishment of education in our area. There are a few of us who would do specific research for you if you need it. best wishes Judy Gifford (nee Rogers) whose ancestors on the Central Coast are ROGERS, SMITH, CAIN. The SMITHs arrived here in 1856.
Dear listers Any Macintosh users out there who would like to share hints and tips? Frank Cardiff East Gosford NSW 2250 Australia
Dear listers My computer didn't go over so I set my clock manually. Suppose I'll have to watch when the real DLS would have been due in case it goes on another hour. Frank Cardiff East Gosford NSW 2250 Australia
Dear listers No Margaret, I'm not too shy and I'm not hiding so here is a message. Has anyone else been bombarded with messages on how to make a million etc etc. Some have a return address to write to if you want to cancel. I have done this to about four lately and they have bounced back from the Postmaster as address unknown, even though it was the one in their original message. Oops! I meant to say, I wish I had ancestors in the "Central Coast area" Cheryl.
Hi Marg and everyone else, It looks like my first message of congratulations went astray, so I will say it again. Congratulations Marg for getting this list up and running. I think as people become aware of its existence, it will become a busy and very informative list. I just wish I had some ancestors in Gosford! Regards Cheryl
The Central Coast Family History Soc. is currently in the process of compiling a register of pioneer families in the Gosford District prior to 1901. It is our wish that we have a complete register, together with copies of documented evidence and photographs to record this important part of our local history. It is important that none od our pioneer families are omitted from this register. Can you help me with information? My mother, Isabella Robley, was born on 11 April, 1913 at MacPherson's Estate, Wyong. Can anyone tell me exactly where this estate was/is? She was a daughter of George Andrew Robley (1890 - 1951) and Doris Tucker (1889 - 1967). They had a farm outside Wyong; I remember going there as a youngster in the 1950s. Would anyone know if the Robley farm was part of MacPherson's Estate, or am I looking at two separate places? Would a contemporary map of Wyong and environs be available? I seem to remember that (in the 1960s?) the Robley farm was compulsorily acquired for a dam/water storage. An even fainter recollection is that, in the end, the farm did not go under water. Any suggestions how I could find out what happened? John Ross [email protected]
