    1. McPherson Estate, Wyong
    2. Rhonda Paine
    3. Hi Marg, John and all Don't know what your original request was John but presume it to be about McPherson Estate at Wyong. I can't help you with that but I did find a drawing of the Royal Hotel in Wyong which was built by John Robley and opened in 1889 see http://www.ccrdc.org.au/libphoto/photohtmls/sv1p50.htm Also noticed that there were 3 people interested in ROBLEY name in members list for Gosford Pioneers in the CC Family History Group's site http://www.terrigal.net.au/~ccfhg/poineersp-z.html Hope the above is helpful. 1. McPherson's Estate
    2. Lynnette Fiddick
    3. Hello John I haven't found anything re the above estate as such, but there was a Peter Mc Pherson who I think was a solicitor to the Erina Council in about 1908, judging from a photograph on page 29 in a book entitled "A History of Wyong Shire 1947-1997", published by Wyong Council. There is also mention of a CH MCPherson, an employee of the council on p. 36. Unfortunately the book doesn't go into too much detail about the people of the Shire, it deals mainly with the development of the area itself from a council point of view. The 1901 Census (published by Central Coast Family History Society) lists a G McPherson in the Wyong locality. The entry was listed in Book G which indicates the localitity as being within "The districts of Mandalong, Morriset and Cooranbong bounded on the north by Dora Creek, on the west by Mandalong and Maitland Roads, on the south by Wyong Creek and on the east by the railway line". This group has also published indexes of the 1841 Brisbane Water Census and 1891 Census of Gosford are (both of which also included Wyong area). The McPherson surname is not listed in either of these. Hope that helps a little. 'Bye for now, Lynne ____________________________________________ Lynnette Fiddick Central Coast of New South Wales, AUSTRALIA [email protected] ____________________________________________

    3. Hi John > No, I didn't get any replies, but I'm not too worried about it I am as that it one of the main purposes of mailing lists 'getting answes to questions' , and I think if I ever get up Wyong way, I'd be able > to find out myself fairly easily. That is another reason for mailig lists that you dont necessarliy have to go to the the area to get the info you seek I did initially look up some info for you But thought you would have got some reaction so didnt send what I found . There is a McPherson Road on the Tuggarah side of the Wyong river. Its thought the their farm would have been in this area John & Isabelle ROBLEY had the Union Hotel in Gosford and also both the Royal and Commercial Hotels Wyong at one time . Isabelle ROBLEY was also a local midwife . She died in Aug 1944 aged 100 The name McPherson Estate wasnt familiar to several people I asked . there is the Mardi Dam in the McPherson road area Incidently I have ROBLEYs from Carlisle , UK in one of my husbands families. were did this ROBLEY family come from ? Thats all I was able to find out in the short time I spent in the Tuggarah Library . I must say I am really pleased that you've > organised the thing - it will be a great resource. I live in hope ! Its only what the contributors make it. All questions and no answers and it wont last long ! Bye Marg Morters List Owner NSW Central Coast Mailing List Gosford, NSW Australia

    3. I bet that subject line made a few of you sit up. Have you ever seen a nice looking web page but there's too much to read on-line so you print it out. Then you haven't got enough time to read what you printed, so of course you file it. Then (in my case anyhow), later on you see another web site and do the same thing but still haven't got the time etc. etc. Much later, when you finally have got time and assuming your filing system is nice and systematic, you look through the things you've put away so neatly and find you've got two or sometime more copies of the same thing. OK, cleanup time! How about looking over thos Web Page printouts you no longer want and bringing them along for others to see or perhaps swap. See, I'm not so shy - I'm full of bright ideas. Hi Frank > > But a few people have mentioned that we take a long time to get down to > business at the few meetings we have had. > Its been very informal to date But nothing to stop it being abit more formal if thats whats wanted . I have a few questions about > scanning etc but if it's mentioned BEFORE we meet some others may be able Tips on writing and replying to email messages could be a goer ? So many people return the complete email to the originator . If this is done a few times it gets to be a very long email indeed And many have their email programs set on HTML instead of plain text Bye Marg Morters List Owner NSW Central Coast Mailing List Gosford, NSW Australia
