    1. REYNOLDS/MC NAMARA
    2. SherylReardon
    3. Hi, I have just found out that my uncle had an aunty whose surname was MC NAMARA. I am hoping that some information on her will help me out of this rut I am in with my REYNOLDS'. This is what I know about my grandfather REYNOLDS, Albert George b. Forbes, Nsw (birth wasn't registered) married in Forbes, Nsw 1908 CARNEY, Mary Louisa b. Forbes, Nsw 5 June 1887. Alberts parents were REYNOLDS, John William and PRITCHARD, Mary. I can't find a birth or marriage for them in Nsw although on Albert's marriage certificate it states that John and Mary were from Forbes, Nsw and he was a bootmaker. I found a CARNEY that married a MC NAMARA in 1926 which could be my grandmothers (Mary Louisa) brother's (CARNEY, Joseph Scott James) daughter ?(Grace T) but the records are to recent to look-up. I found a few REYNOLDS' that did so all I need to do now is find the right one. I want to find out if my grandfather had any siblings, aunts and uncles. Another problem with tracking down my family is they change (not legally) their name to REARDON. I can't find any REYNOLDS or CARNEY that are related to the REARDONS so I don't know why that name chosen. My aunty Nora (nee CHICKEN wife of REYNOLDS, Rex Carney) said that his MC NAMARA aunty was living in St. George, Qld around the 50's and 60's. Hope someone can help me with this MC NAMARA line. Hopefully Sheryl Reardon

He was & is only MUTTON in these records. I wasnt able to get further info today as 2 of our film readers were down for the count and 2 were being used solidly . 2. Brent Richards
    3. Hi, first post here. I'm Brent from Wyoming. I'm researching the Horsfield name, its not very common in Australia. Although my Horsfields appear to be mainly from the Sofala region of NSW, I was just wondering if anyone knows the reason behind the naming of Horsfield Bay west of Woy Woy. I've noticed in the White Pages for the CC a couple of Horsfield households but not at Horsfield Bay. 1. Death Certificates
    2. Gwen Dundon
    3. Just in case there is anyone out there who believes implicitly in the accuracy of death certificate information, beware! In the last couple of days I have been looking at death certificates pertaining to my family. First is one issued in Melbourne in 1939 which states that the deceased had spent 25 years in Victoria and 40 years in Western Australia. WRONG! Maybe four years in WA and longer than 25 in Vic. Second is one issued on the death of my father-in-law in Gosford in 1969, and which I did not sight for many years afterward. On this certificate it shows that he died at a certain nursing home in Gosford (it was at Wyoming); that he was cremated at Northern Suburbs Crematorium (it was Palmdale, Ourimbah), and that a minister with an unfamiliar name officiated. When my own mother died in October last year, I was horrified when the death certificate arrived as there were three glaring errors on it. I scooted into Sydney on the train, waited my turn at the BDM office, and in less than 15 minutes or so had had the mistakes corrected and a new death certificate issued - but wait, here's a mistake in the corrections! Oh, well, it is a very minor one .... Death certificates are only as reliable as (1) the informant's memory and knowledge of the deceased's background and/or (2) the accuracy of the person recording the information. Never believe ages given on old death certificates, that's my motto. In my experience they can prove to be anything up to 10 years in error. In one case I have encountered, a man shown to be 103 was actually 93. Perhaps he had enjoyed people complimenting him on his youthful looks! On occasions an old death certificate will be found to exclude all children of a first marriage, and even all mention of that event. A list of offspring will very often leave out one or more children who have been living elsewhere for so long they seemed to have escaped the combined memories of the family. I came across a 1924 death certificate in a local family not related to me, in which the deceased was given a strange set of parents, and one of the names listed as his offspring was actually a grandchild. 3. This is a success story worth sharing. For years I have been researching the name CARDIFF and have collected quite a little group of correspondents, now mostly on email and from such varied places as Ireland, UK, Scotland, Canada, NZ, China and Belgium and of course, many in Australia. My young Irish correspondent (17 when we first corresponded) has now finished Uni and his name has appeared in several publications. Most of my correspondents didn't know of the others and we have only the vaguest connection, which must be back in Ireland. I have wheedled trees from most of them but still can't find any real connection, just a few familiar names and places that keep cropping up. But I got the bright idea of writing an email to them all, introducing them and giving a few details. And the replies are still rolling in! Some wrote back to me but a few wrote to the list (saying how wonderful Frank was to think of the idea). We are now really sharing details, particularly places to look, who has what and most of all, saving duplication of effort. But here is the gem. My Irish friend said he has transcribed numerous BDMs etc over the years and was hoping to publish details but has no time right now. Offered to give us the details if someone could arrange or perhaps pay for it all to be put into a word processor. An almost immediate reply came from Canada, offering to do the work. My old Irish Grandmother often used to say "many hands make light work" but I don't think she realized they would come from so far afield! Could be a moral in this story - tell your friends! 3. What a horrible little message from such a lovely person. Here am I telling the world what a lovely place Aus is and replies are coming in from all over agreeing with me and with perhaps a little envy. Tongue may have been in cheek when this comment was written but next time bite the tongue. Forty years is a long time to bear such a petty grudge - long enough to grow up. Now back on topic - and don't compare PCs and Macs or Eudora and Outlook Express or Netscape and Explorer. I think there is a skeleton in the closet concerning my uncle who I new as REARDON, Reginal Gordon ( his real name was REYNOLDS, Cecil James.) He opened a bakery in Toowoomba and all his brothers became bakers. Nobody ever told us there was an uncle Kenneth, apparently he died young, before they left Forbes. I don't know how they got in to baking bread as my ggrandfathers (John William) occupation on my grandfathers marriage certificate was 'bootmaker'. Hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance, Sheryl Reardon.
