Someone ask a question like how did Lisarow get called Lisarow . how did Reileys island get is name. and Davistown get named etc etc . How do you find out how an ancestor got here ? . How do I find out ???? When did the railway arrive ? What has Gosford Library got in the way of records and what has the CC FHS got that Gosford hasnt and vice visa ??? And what about Tuggarah Library and the LDS Library ?? What info is at the Land titles Office ? NSW State Library , State Records . Is is worth joining the SAG ? How do I get to these places ? Come on fence sitters make abit of noise . Introduce yourselves There could be a 6th cuz 10 times removed that also a fence sitter subscribed to this list but unless one of you makes a move neither will find out So how about it ? 3. Dear CC Listers Do you all take Rootswebs Review ?? These are 2 weekly newsletters that are there for the taking. Pays to keep up with what happening ( send an email ro [email protected] ) If you got this weeks you probably would have seen a short story from me A few days prior to Christmas I suddenly remembered I had forgotten to send a Chrissy card one of my mothers REDDING cousin in England . By way of atonement I thought I'd send him a print out of what REDDING family info I had gathered. Was reading thru this as alot was research I'd done a few years ago, when a name leapt off the page and I wondered........ One of my gpas brothers had been named Henry Mortleman REDDING. Had known that for ages and thought no more of it :-) Silly me. A classic case of not practising what I preach aka.of leaving no stone unturned . This turned out to be a ruddy great rock that set the MORTLEMAN families main researcher ( in S Aus ! ) abuzz in the form of a stray located . That stray was Eliza GROVE. one of my gt gt gmothers, whose maiden name, MORTLEMAN I discovered on Christmas Day 2000. OK so you dont know which was the first useful census in England from a genealogical point of view . How do you find out ??...... 2. Murray Oldham
    3. Hi everyone I am looking for information on DOROTHY WHITE (who is my cousin but we always called her Aunt). We lost contact in the 1960's when she living on the Central Coast. She had contacted my mother about some family matters after her sister Ethel died on 4th November 1964 in St Kilda. She said she was married to a Mr NOAKES, Nokes, Okes, ??? Maybe someone can help with the married name. She also said she had children. She also asked Mum about racehorses in Glen Innes - Does this ring a bell with anyone? Dorothy's mother was SARAH WHITE, and her father, we believe, was CHARLES WHITE. Sarah WHITE was born in England in 1898. She came to Australia in about 1906 with her father Charles White and step-mother, Florrie White (nee WARDLE) and lived at "Butter Leaf", Glen Innes between the years 1927 and 1937. Sarah had five (illegit) children: (1)Sarah Ethel White, she was called Ethel but we also knew her as Ciss. She was born in 1914 in Sydney and died in St Kilda in 1964. (2)Frederick J. White was born in Sydney in 1918. We believe Freddy and Dorothy were adopted out together but we cannot find any record of this. (3)Dorothy we believe was born around 1920-25. (4)Alexander born about 1926 and died in 1926. (5)Johney Albert White was born in 1928 at Collaroy. We are searching the WHITE family back to England. Dorothy's children maybe able to help. Can anyone help is locating our lost my cousins. Regards Vicki Please reply to me care of [email protected]
