Found in the Gosford Star June 5 1930 The Main Road Board announced that a regular ferry service was to start across the Hawkesbury River from Mooney Point to Kangaroo Point Mon- Fri 7am - 4 pm no weekend service I guess that would prove more popular than the 105 mile trip from George St Sydney to Mann st Gosford via Wiseman's Ferry ! Dear Bill James, Re your great-grandfather George Frost: You may not know that the old George Frost family home in the Kincumber village on the Central Coast has been up for sale - and probably faces demolition. It must be well over 120 years old, but has no Heritage order on it. It has possibly been sold again already - I haven't heard. I did approach Gosford City Council, hoping that it could be purchased for the community (even for removal elsewhere). It has been one of the very few tangible reminders of the old wooden shipbuilding industry that flourished around the shores of Brisbane Water. Because of housing development around its location, which is adjacent to St Pauls Anglican Church at the traffic roundabout, the house finds itself in a very awkward position. Even if it had to be cut up and removed to another site, it would have been very good to see it retained because of its history. George Frost's shipyard was on the nearby bank of Kincumber Creek, about halfway between this house and the later one of George's son, Manasseh Frost, who conducted the post office there. The latter home was last occupied by the late Doris Tincknell, a daughter of Manasseh, who had charge of the post office after her father's time, until 1945, when it had been in Frost hands for a total of 50 years. This house has been restored by church owners, and as "the old post office" looks very well. The first vessel built by George Frost was the sailing ketch "Lizzie Frost" in 1884, named after his wife Margaret Elizabeth, nee Woodward. The vessel was totally wrecked in 1887 when it went ashore trying to enter Brunswick Heads. The last built was the steamship "Rock Lily" which Frost completed in 1906, the year of his death at 64 years. This vessel was broken up in 1927. Mrs Lizzie Frost survived her husband until 1937, dying at the age of 93 years and known by all as "Granny Frost of Kincumber". Best of luck with your researches into the Frost family's connections. Regards, Gwen
I only joined the list last night and already I want to know something. Has anyone got details of Margaret FROST b 16 June 1862, in Kincumber, and married Joseph Patrick TOMLIN, 25 Oct 1882 in Longueville, NSW. Margaret is the daughter of George and Margaret Elizabeth FROST. Any information on her death, their children and their children's wives/husbands. Anything would be appreciated. I also know that they lived outside of the district, but thought that someone in the Central Coast Area may have done some investigation on Margaret. Happy New Year Bill James, Mooloolaba QLD.
Goodmorning everyone, My name is Bill JAMES and I live at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. I was born at Kogarah NSW on the 12 Apr 1932. My Grandfather was Edward Richard James who married Elsie Camelia Jane FROST b 1882 in Kincumber, the daughter of George FROST, Ship Builder of Kincumber. My interest is of course the FROST family, but I am equally interested in the wives/husbands and children of their families. I have a very worn out book on the 1870-1970 Centenary ofthe Kincumber Public School, jointly written by Gwen and John JAMES. This is the only thing I have on Kincumber and wish to further my knowledge by purchasing other articles to build a libary of the life of my ancestors. Thanks for the chance to talk to you. Cheers, Bill James, Mooloolaba Qld. billjames1@optusnet.com.au

Reply to posting by John Selby: Dear John, Robert Lucock Sealby died at Saratoga on 21 May 1947 aged 84. His widow was Winifred Sealby, nee Kingsford-Smith. Cremation was at Northern Suburbs Crematorium (Sydney). This was recorded in the "Woy Woy Herald" on Wednesday, 28 May, 1947. A one-sentence news item in The Gosford Times of 25 October, 1928, stated that "Kingsford-Smith Senior" is staying with his sister Mrs Winifred Sealby at Saratoga" but there were no other details. Hi, I'm researching into my paternal great grandfather, Robert Langcock Selby. He may also have been known as Robert Lucock Sealby. I have information that Robert Lucock Sealby moved to Saratoga, NSW around 1925. He married Winifred Kingsford Smith (sister of Sir Charles) in 1924 in Manly, NSW. They owned Ladstock, a home in Saratoga. Robert Lucock worked in real estate in Saratoga before retiring there in 1930. I do not know when or where he died. The lives of Robert Langcock Selby and Robert Lucock Sealby share astounding similarities between 1895 and 1916, when each enlisted in WWI. There are no army records of Robert Langcock Selby enlisting, but there are of Robert Lucock Sealby. My family has no knowledge of what happened to my great grandfather after he enlisted in WWI. We are trying to determine whether Robert Lucock and Robert Langcock are the same person. As this is a weblist dedicated to the history of the Central Coast, I thought that I would post to see if anyone has information on their property, Ladstock, Winifred Sealby (nee) Kingsford Smith or Robert Lucock Sealby. Regards, John Selby

Hello again Marg, You did mean Pioneers book didn't you, and would you know if it is still available. I am not (yet) a member of the CC FHS, but I'll google for it shortly and hopefully find an answer to the first question. I may be the only one on the list claiming Joseph Ashby, but there is literally a "tribe" of descendents from Joseph & Charlotte spread all over Australia. Unfortunately I know of only one that is using their computer for family history, and I don't think she subscribes to mailing lists.
