Hi Everyone I'm new to the list and searching for two limbs of the Briggs tree: 1. Charles Harry Briggs, born Tasmania in 1894, married Marjorie Trento Kauff and had one daughter. They lived on the Central Coast up to the early 1970's. 2. Edward Briggs known as Ted, born c.1939, had/has a sister named Sarah or Sally born later. They are the nephew and neice of Harry. Their parents were Edward who died in 1952 and Phyllis. If anyone has any tenuous connection to them I'd love to hear from you. Cheers Alison Briggs Sydney Australia *************************************************** Researching Briggs & Devine in Tasmania and the Briggs' of Yorkshire http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/i/Alison-Briggs-NSW/ ***************************************************

Hello Kay, Re the death of EBENEZER JONES of Kincumber, who died on 28 September 1866 aged 66, a sawyer: The following appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald issue of 12 March 1867: "In September last an old man named JONES, a sawyer, was killed at Kincumber by a log rolling over him. The bones of his head, across from the forehead to the back, were completely fractured and driven into the brain. Death must have been instantaneous". They believed in giving all the gory details back then, didn't they? A marriage certificate for RICHARD BARTLETT, widower, sawyer, shows that he married on 16 July 1867 at Christ Church, East Gosford, ELLEN JONES, widow of EBENEZER JONES. Both bride and bridegroom gave Erina as their place of residence. Richard died in 1906 aged 92 or a bit younger, while living at Wyoming. The Edmund Blacket-designed Christ Church at East Gosford was removed in the early 1900s to the main street of Gosford (south end of Mann St) and was restored last year. The stone church stands adjacent to the modern Christ Church opp Gosford Park. Wendy, Thanks so much for your kind remarks about the book "NSW Central Coast Fishing" which my husband Gene Dundon published in 1983. It is good to know that you have found it interesting. He brought out a second one called "NSW Estuary Fishing" in the same format in 1987. Both have been out of print for a very long time, but we still get enquiries for them occasionally. Second-hand book shops produce one sometimes. Amazing where they all got to, as they sold many thousands of copies. Most of us depicted all look a great deal longer in the tooth these days! Best wishes from Gwen Dundon
Hello Sue, MargM & Listers on going through some old boxes we have just discovered a book written by Gene Dundon (with photographs by Gwen Dundon), called NSW Central Coast Fishing. It was published in 1983 and cost $3.95. My husband bought it many years ago and had forgotten he had it. I was very excited to see the Dundon name as Gwen has been so helpful to me with my family history questions on this list. It has photographs of local fisherfolk and simple maps which I am finding very useful as I am not familiar with the central coast (although connected to the Creighton, Davis, Piper, Cockcroft, Jaques families). These books, although initially intended for another use, can sometimes become quite significant as historial documents. Delighted to still have it in our collection, Gwen ... and it won't be thrown out! Best Wishes Wendy McKenzie

There is another mailing list for Sydney and another for whole of NSW ? I couldnt find any children born to them in NSW and are not in the 1903 NSW electoral roll Bye MargM Member of Central Coast FHS Gosford, NSW Australia
