Hi all, I am posting this message for a friend. Hugh & Mary Beattie came from Ireland to Australia in the 1840's. They first settled in the Windsor area, moving from there to Bathurst, Penrith, Hartley, Carcoar and Goulburn. Their children were: Sarah b. 1845 Windsor Mary b 1846 Windsor Jane b 1847 Bathurst James b 1849 Bathurst Martha b 1850 Bathurst William b 1852 Bathurst Thomas b 1855 Windsor John b 1857 Penrith Isabella b 1858 Penrith Alfred b 1860 Hartley Unnamed male b 1863 Carcoar My friend is descended through Alfred, who married Sarah about 1885. Mary Ann Beattie married Donald Cameron in Goulburn in 1864, they were the parents of Dame Mary Gilmore, who was born at "Merry Vale" (near Goulburn) which was owned by her Beattie grandparents in 1865. Much has been written about Dame Mary's family, but my friend is interested in the descendants of the other Beattie children.
