    2. Thanks for replies to my puzzle over Elizabeth JOYCE, nee PURSS. bc 1854/55. It was tricky to keep it short but include the things I've already discounted. Yes, there was an Emily Emma born 1854 to the family in question, but I have details of her marriage, children, & early death (1880), - so she's not my Elizabeth. Wiliam & Elizabeth Ann also an "unnamed female" born in 1857, which my cousin had found 30 years ago, & assumed to be Elizabeth. But she was "Mary J", who died as an infant. There are a couple of theories I have - maybe Elizabeth was actually born to her aunt Rosalind, who became a widow soon after, & baby was taken in by family? That's why I think William & Eliz A's death notices may be the best shot at including unusual relationships. Cheers, Megan

Australian death certs usually have a great deal more info than English ones However they both left wills . William PURSS d 27 Jun 1899 will ref is # 18506 and Elizabeth 21 Nov 1906 , will ref # 38449 both Leichhardt The Probate indexes gives the date of death whereas the deaths indexes only state that year . For her death it says daughter of William and Eleanor ? May pay you to check out : http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts The Claim a convict site and check out William CALF who arrived here per the ' Barwell' in 1798 as he has been claimed . Pretty sure he had a son, also William b 1801 . In the 1828 census there is record of Wm CALF born colony aged 27 living at Bathurst In 1833 William CALF m Eleanor HALLORAN at Bathurst . Pretty sure it was their dau Elizabeth who m William PURSS in 1852 at Sofala ( not far from Bathurst ) Bye Marg Morters Member of Central Coast Family History Society GOSFORD NSW Australia
