My interest is the MILLER family who lived in this area in the 1850's. Walter was the youngest son of Alexander who brought his three children (John, Jessy & Walter) to NSW from Scotland on the Lady McNaughton in 1839.(His wife Elspeth Balmar had died shortly before their departure). They went to the Bathurst area where John married ALICE PRENDERGAST in 1845. I have very recently discovered that Walter married CHARLOTTE HORSLEY in the Parish of Wellington in 1853. Their firstborn was WALTER ALEXANDER born 1854 at Mumbal, then JANET JANE in 1855, also at Mumbal and HENRIETTA MARY BALMER (Balmer being the maiden name of Walter's mother) in 1858. Walter's occupation was listed as Superintendent or Overseer on these three Baptism registrations, and at first I thought he must have had something to do with the Wellington Valley Establishment, but have found out that it was disbanded before this time. Would anyone have any suggestions as to what he might have been a Superintendent or Overseer of? Any help would be gratefully received. Dorothy Penrith NSW AUSTRALIA
