Hello List Looking for some information on the towns of Clarendon and Wallerawang. My ggg grandfather George CROOME arrived in Australia in 1850, married Elizabeth Yard 1850 in Sydney. Their first son William was born Windsor 1851. Then George died at Clarendon, in the Parish of Richmond in 1856 at the age of 35 yrs. I have ordered the death certificate hoping that it will give me the cause of death, I'm still waiting for that to arrive. His wife Elizabeth married 2 years later to a James SMITH whom sailed with them both on the "Cornwall". They must of stayed put in the area for a time as the first son William married a Sarah Ann Doble/Dobbie in Wallerawang in 1877. Have not found any other info on the SMITHS as yet. Elizabeth and George had two other children, Eliza Rebecca, born 1855 died 1857 and Sarah A born 1853, married John Eaton 1872 in Penrith, died 1893, Penrith. Would love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge about the areas or people mentioned. Wondering if there is a cemetery at Clarendon and if George is buried there?
