    1. [NSW-C] KNUDSEN, Tomingley
    2. Anne Lemon
    3. Hello List The man I am looking for, Adolf Guneriius KNUDSEN, Norwegian, aged 49, stated on his naturalization application in 1912, that he lived in Tomingley and that he was a carpenter. I have a contact who is doing a Tomingley Cemetery look-up, can anyone suggest any other records, and how I can access them, which might give me some information about Adolf? Electoral rolls, police, Lutheran Church? Should I look in Peak Hill for items like these, or Dubbo? Any suggestions would be appreciated. A new lister from across the ditch, Anne Lemon, Amberley, N Z

I can't help you with your other families, but I hope, maybe, we can exchange some information about the Mc Guirks. My great grandfather was Thomas Mc Guirk, the eldest brother of Hugh. 1. [NSW-C] LYONS/ FLOOD family
    2. Lorraine
    3. Hope there may be a connection out there to the LYONS family. My Great grandmother, Norah LYONS ,(a barmaid) originally from South Australia married James FLOOD (a policeman from Ireland) in Silverton in 1889. James was posted to a number of towns in the Riverina, Wentworth, Berrigan, Moama, Finley, Deniliquin. The family ended up in Hay in 1906. Family story gives Norah's father (Thomas) as having a pub in Wentworth. Apparently she also had a brother who lived in Urana, however I cannot find a reference to a birth for this brother but there is a death of a James (aged 60) in 1929 in Urana but no further details on the BDM CDs, nor can I find any mention of Thomas in the NSW BDMs. Any suggestions on where to go from here gratefully appreciated. Cheers Lorraine

    1. [NSW-C] PURVIS of Cowra & other surnames of the district.
    2. ETB
    3. Hi All, I am researching Louisa COOK, daughter of John (deceased) & Caroline COOK, who married Robert PURVIS at Cowra 11th May 1847. Both addresses were River Lachlan. I can find no record of the death of Louisa PURVIS nee COOK, or any record of children born to this couple. They were married in the C of E. Minster was T. BEAGLY NAYLOR, Chaplain. Witnesses were John EVANS of the Lachlan River and Helen LOUDON of Carcoar. Robert PURVIS seems to have been a devout Catholic, if he is the same Robert PURVIS who died at the Cowra District Hospital in September 1894. He was then 94. No mention is made of family at all in the obituary. People named in the obit. were: Rev Fathers O'KENNEDY & McGEE Mr & Mrs McCANN are mentioned. Wardsman and matron of the hospital. Robert PURVIS had become a resident of the Cowra deistrict several years before the village of Cowra was surveyed. And had lived almost continuously in the district. Robert was employed by Mr N. CHALLACOMBE , of Cowra, for the last 25 years of his life. Has anyone information on the COOK or PURVIS family. With regards Elizabeth

    1. Re: [NSW-C] Hogan & Edghill of Wagga Wagga
    2. Josephine, Well, for a start if they were farmers or graziers, you could go to the historic maps site, NSW, and look up to see if they had any property. Forget the site address, but I guess NSW Gov then historic or parish maps. Try for Howlong or other places, and enlarge bit by bit, click in the part you want to enlarge, and you might find their names. Try the local council for rates records or shire council records. There is also a local family history society around the district, again try the council, they might actually run it. Best of luck. robyndehood. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josephine Conray" <javc@powerup.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 04, 1980 12:51 AM Subject: [NSW-C] Hogan & Edghill of Wagga Wagga > Hi to all on the list. > > I live in Brisbane Qld, I have been researching the Hogan & Edghill families of Wagga Wagga for quite some time, I would like to posted my interest in these families in the hope some one may be researching the same families. > Three of the children died in 1863 & one in 1864. 1. [NSW-C] Hugh & Mary Beattie (Grandparents of Dame Mary Gilmore)
    2. Penny Family History
    3. Hi all, I am posting this message for a friend. Hugh & Mary Beattie came from Ireland to Australia in the 1840's. They first settled in the Windsor area, moving from there to Bathurst, Penrith, Hartley, Carcoar and Goulburn. Their children were: Sarah b. 1845 Windsor Mary b 1846 Windsor Jane b 1847 Bathurst James b 1849 Bathurst Martha b 1850 Bathurst William b 1852 Bathurst Thomas b 1855 Windsor John b 1857 Penrith Isabella b 1858 Penrith Alfred b 1860 Hartley Unnamed male b 1863 Carcoar My friend is descended through Alfred, who married Sarah about 1885. Mary Ann Beattie married Donald Cameron in Goulburn in 1864, they were the parents of Dame Mary Gilmore, who was born at "Merry Vale" (near Goulburn) which was owned by her Beattie grandparents in 1865. Much has been written about Dame Mary's family, but my friend is interested in the descendants of the other Beattie children. If anyone has any information that they would like to share, I will pass it on. Thanks in advance, Penny Canberra ACT
