    1. [NSW-C] Miller family of Mumbal
    2. Dorothy Falconer
    3. My interest is the MILLER family who lived in this area in the 1850's. Walter was the youngest son of Alexander who brought his three children (John, Jessy & Walter) to NSW from Scotland on the Lady McNaughton in 1839.(His wife Elspeth Balmar had died shortly before their departure). They went to the Bathurst area where John married ALICE PRENDERGAST in 1845. I have very recently discovered that Walter married CHARLOTTE HORSLEY in the Parish of Wellington in 1853. Their firstborn was WALTER ALEXANDER born 1854 at Mumbal, then JANET JANE in 1855, also at Mumbal and HENRIETTA MARY BALMER (Balmer being the maiden name of Walter's mother) in 1858. Walter's occupation was listed as Superintendent or Overseer on these three Baptism registrations, and at first I thought he must have had something to do with the Wellington Valley Establishment, but have found out that it was disbanded before this time. Would anyone have any suggestions as to what he might have been a Superintendent or Overseer of? Any help would be gratefully received. Dorothy Penrith NSW AUSTRALIA

    3. Hello Simon Your Goonable Station may well be in the Urana area, however in the 1940's my grandparents worked and lived on a property called Gunnible Station, which is just north of the town of Gunnedah, between Coonabarabran and Tamworth. This farm is still known by this name and the current owners are Fiona and Robert Hoddle. Regards Alan

    3. Simon Try www.lpi.nsw.gov.au and look in Parish Maps and Historic Maps. The Lands Title department is also very helpful, as well as Local family history societies. Also try the Topographical Maps of the area, the station name could well be listed, these can be purchased from newsagents. ----- Original Message ----- From: "S & A Liddle" <liddle40@optusnet.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 9:39 AM Subject: [NSW-C] Goonable Station, Urana > I am searching for information on the location and history of Goonable Station, > probably near Urana, NSW. 3. Hello Carl, Thank you very much for your assistance. I apologise for the delay in replying, but I have been busy chasing up the various leads people have given me. I have found the children of the couple on NSW BDM and now I am after the names of the parents of those parents. This family history research is a very time-consuming business, but enjoyable provided one can make at least one step forward. 3. Dear listers, A book has been written by a cousin of mine, Kim Hatherly ( and Maurice Wood) about Thomas RADBURN (convict) of the Eleanor 1831, his wife Harriet HOARE and their family. Thomas was one of a boatload of agricultural labourers and rural craftsmen transported for being involved in the Swing Riots during 1830 in rural England. The first printing sold very quickly and she has been asked to organise a second printing run. The pricing details etc are as below and if you are interested please send a message to Kim at khatherly@bigpond.com . It is a beautifully presented book and if you are related to the RADBURN's from Neville, near Blayney ( or REDBURN's of Tasmania... same family) it is a must.
