Hello I've tried to find out more about a diptheria epidemic in Orange in 1885 to no avail. When my grandmother, Madge Chandler (nee Livingstone/Levinstone) from German's Hill was 4, four of her siblings died within a few days. I found their grave in Orange cemetery. I am trying to find a William Tye born in Eltham UK 1868/69. He married Sarah Spence in 1901 in Dubbo and that's all I have on him. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to look for information I would be extremely grateful. Brenda
Hi Brenda, Their marriage is listed on the NSW BD & M Ref.. 1037/1901 if you bought the marriage certificate you would probably obtain extra information. You may also like to try BD&M in the UK they are on line Good hunting Bev Bennion -- --------- Original Message --------- DATE: Thu, 06 Nov 2003 16:35:49 From: "Brenda Masters" <bjm@iinet.net.au> To: AUS-NSW-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com Cc: >I am trying to find a William Tye born in Eltham UK 1868/69. Yep, there is a transcription of the Narrandera cemetery For the life of me can't think of it's name - along the lines of the Narrandera cemetery I'd suggest. From memory, it was done by the Wagga and District Family History Group I know that the National Library holds a copy, so there must be some about. I'd start with the Wagga family history group - they have a website which should give you their contact details (Narrandera is about 100km west of Wagga) Cheers Shane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nelson & Livingstone" <panjil@bigpond.net.au> To: <AUS-NSW-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 26, 2003 6:54 PM Subject: [NSW-C] McCaughey - Narrandera Cemetery > Hi List > Is this town in our area? Hi Robyn I just looked up the Wellington Cemetery records which are online at http://www.interment.net/data/aus/nsw/orana/wellington/wellington_lawn/index .htm Here is what I found on Davey and Dempsey. There was a dress shop in Wellington that was owned by Dempsey and and known as Demspey's. I think that John may have been known as Jack Dempsey. Davey, Allan Charles, d. 20 Dec 1997, age: 87y, h/Nellie Eileen Davey, Nellie Eileen, d. 14 Feb 2001, age: 92y, w/Allan Charles Dempsey, Hilda I(sabel), d. 18 Jun 1985, age: 85y, w/John Dempsey, John, d. 15 Dec 1983, age: 81y, h/Hilda Isabel there may have been an obituary in the local paper wellington Times for Jack as he was well known. If you write to the Wellington Historical Society at PO box 281 Wellington NSW 2820 , the research officer will check the local paper for you. I think the cost is about $5.00 per person as they have to copy the article by hand to send to you. They may hold other information on the families. Their research fee is about $15.00 and I have found them to be excellent. I hope that this is of help to you.
