    3. According to the Australia death index on Ancestry.com.au Ralph died 29 June 1968 in South Australia. Then in the genealogysa.org.au (Genealogy South Australia)site Mavis is noted in the Advertiser in 1993,1993,and 1994. You may need to request a lookup .There is a request form on the website. Hope this is of some use to you.Cheers Elaine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dean Martin Rees Newman" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2012 1:37 AM Subject: [AUS-NSW] Details please > > Could someone please provide details of a motor vehicle accident that > occurred at Giraween via Paramatta. > It resulted in the the deaths of > Ralph Herbert Charles PINK > and his wife Mavis nee Parish.' > Dead couple were on holidays and from South Australia. > It apparently happened in June 1968. > > All thanks, > Dean Newman > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >

    3. Hi Dean, I've had a look at the Sydney Morning Herald Archives without success - maybe someone on the List will have more luck. I've searched using no dates for both their names, individual names, Mr & Mrs Pink, Girraween accident 1968 etc, but nothing has shown up. Neither death is recorded in the NSW BMD's death indexes. Ancestry has the death of Ralph Herbert Charles PINK, died 29 June 1968, South Australia, 4576/51A. There is nothing listed for the death of Mavis PINK. They are buried at Centennial Park Cemetery in Adelaide, General Cemetery, Section E, Path 24, Site 857A. Ralph Herbert Charles, Mavis, and also Leonard Ralph Pink who died 13 July 1987. No dates given for Ralph and Mavis. Name / Date of Death / Location Mavis Pink, date of death not listed, no age, Girraween Ralph Herbert Charles Pink, date of death not listed, aged 70, Wallaroo Leonard Ralph Pink, died 13 July 1987, aged 43 years, Berrimah Nt So it looks as though Ralph died in South Australia, and Mavis died in NSW. Nothing recorded in deaths for Mavis PINK 1900-1981. Maybe Mavis was a nickname, and she is registered under something else? Searching the SMH archives for "pink and girraween" still failed to turn up anything for any years. Maybe the South Australian newspapers will have a death or memorial notice. There is a lovely lady who takes photographs of headstones in South Australia and offers them without charge (except a word of thanks). On her site, she has a listing at Centennial Park Cemetery for Maida Mavis PINK, Photo No187, File No 2. You can contact Kym at [email protected] to request a copy of the photograph to see if it is your Mavis. There is no death in the NSW or Ancestry indexes for Maida PINK. It looks like there is a Girraween in South Australia about 6km from Kongal - http://www.exploroz.com/Places/45542/SA/Girraween.aspx Maybe somewhere along the way, the facts have become twisted as to where this couple died? 3. Trish - VMT for your considerable efforts. It seems that the death of one of them (Ralph Herbert Pink) may have occured in South Australia after all. Mavis may not have died until much later. Ancestry.com are always right (or so they tell us) so prepared to believe them at this stage. The info on the son was a bonus (Leonard Ralph Pink)! Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting any of the family and Mavis is not a close relation (3Cousin 1R maternal) so a photo of her would not be of any use. I have no record of her having been called 'Maida' either. 1. [AUS-NSW] Ryerson Index Singleton Argus
    2. David & Sandra Bales
    3. Listers, There have been some changes in indexers for about 6 NSW country papers brought about by the sudden death of a highly valued member of the Ryerson team. New indexers have taken over but there will be a gap in coverage for those papers until they become available on film at the NSW State Library in 3 to 6 months. If any lister has access to the Singleton Argus for the dates listed below and would be able to scan and send all death, funeral, obituary or probate for the dates listed, I will pass them on to the person who taken up the Singleton Argus for indexing. If you would rather cut and post the pieces to me contact me for a postal address. Digital photos work equally well. David Missing dates Singleton Argus Tuesday March 6, Friday March 9 Tuesday March 13, Friday March 16 Tuesday March 20, Friday March 23
