    3. Google maps will only find what is there now: you are assuming that street names and numbering never change. The library at North Sydney Council has a wonderful online resource, the North Sydney Heritage Centre: http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/www/html/2102-heritage-databases.asp?intSiteID=1 One their databases is called "Naming North Sydney" described as "The history behind the naming of North Sydney's streets, parks and localities." http://www.photosau.com/StantonStreets You'll see that Blues Point is not a suburb but a locality within the suburb of McMahons Point. The entry for Victoria Street, McMahons Point says: "Previously known as SUSANNAH STREET, the street was apparently renamed to commemorate a royal event, probably the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837-1901. The name was formerly used for MUNRO STREET, with which it connected by a level crossing before the overhead bridge was built." So you should be looking for an address today in Munro Street McMahons Point NOT Victoria Street Blues Point. The 1915 Sands Directory lists numbers 65 to 9 Victoria Street as running from Dumbarton Street - today Dumbarton Street intersects Munro Street. Listed at 21 Victoria Street in 1915 is Herbert S Stephen.
