There are some records of on Ancestry John b 1844 parents Jeremiah Maher & Catherine Ryan John b 1843 Parents Thomas & Catherine Tunny John b 1848 Patrick & Eliza John b 1848 Michael & Roseannah All of these in Maitland area John Maher a convict. Hello Jo, Thank you so much for your response to my posting. The youngest son of Anne Jane Toohey was John Henry Maher, whose birth on 29th May 1881 was registered at Herberton, North Queensland, with the name /details of the father as being 'John Maher, miner, 38 years, birthplace New South Wales'. There are earlier references to John Maher [also known as John Clark] as being born at 'West Maitland'. So as not to take up all of the posting space, and if you would not mind a bit of reading, could you have a look at the following website page [currently undergoing some corrections and improvements, but up to date enough to present the story]. http://www.heritagearchaeology.com.au/USBD03.htm I would greatly appreciate any thoughts you may have. There are several 'family trees' on Ancestry that have picked up on much of the information from our website however I remain unconvinced at this point that the 'John Maher' that is reported in those Ancestry trees is the correct person. Hi Jennifer I have gone through all the records I can think off and I can not find any thing on John Maher other than the 4 birth records from Ancestry I sent; he has to be one of them you would think.
