Dear members I am cross posting to various lists in the hope of someone may assist me in finding the date of Birth of Edward MERRICK or MEYRICK who arrived in 1790 on the Suprize or Surprise. 1. Edward died on the 9th February 1839 at the age of 76. Source NSW BDMs 858/1839 V1839858 157, 976/1839 V1839976 23A 2. An Edward, son of John and Susannah MERRICK, was born on the 21st November was baptised on 3 December 1763 at St James Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex. Source Church of England Parish Registers, 1538-1812. London, England: London Metropolitan Archives. This is my question, is the Edward who died in 1839 the same Edward who was born in 1763? If Edward was 76 as stated at the time of his death then he was born during the period 10th February 1762 to the 9 th of February1763. The above Edward who was born in 1763 would 75 years old in February 1839. The Edward who died in 1839 and arrived in 1790 was tried in 1788 at Middlesex, this is the same county where an Edward MERRICK was baptised. I believe that they could be the same person but the age at the time of death should be 75. If not I will have to do more searching. Regards Allan
