    3. I have a gg grandmother who died in 1884, no death recorded so no death certificate and it seems nothing can be done. I gave up after 6 months of phone calls from Victoria and emails. She's dead, we know, its in the family history, its been left at that. Barb

    3. Hi Barb I think I may have picked up this thread after it has been running for a while, so apologies if what I am about to suggest is old news. In my long running project to recreate a lost cemetery burial register, I have spent many hours searching funeral notices and have been surprised to find that many more deaths were not registered than I ever imagined would be the case, in one instance five family members submitted separate funeral notices and yet no one actually registered the death, so have you checked local papers to see if a death or funeral notice exists. The funeral notice at least confirms the death (and burial) and usually names the cemetery used. I suspect that the date of death has something to do with the non registration, if the death and burial take place, say, just before Christmas, the place to register the death may be closed and the job was put off until the new year and never got done Just a few random thoughts All the best Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara" <blacksheep21@optusnet.com.au> To: <aus-nsw@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 4:40 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-NSW] Missing entries in on-line BDM >I have a gg grandmother who died in 1884, no death recorded so no death > certificate and it seems nothing can be done.
