Hi Joan Yes, I recall that your John LYNCH arrived via India and was military. The John LYNCH I have recorded has his story told in "Mines, wines and people : a history of Greater Cessnock" by W.S. Parkes, Jim Comerford, and Max Lake in the chapter on 'Landholders on the south arm of Wollombi Brook', part iv: "Currency lads: Irish Lads: Lynch-Chapman-Cagney-Moore-McMullen-Peter Byrne-Morton" p. 49 ff. This John LYNCH was an Irish convict who arrived per 'Archduke Charles' (dep. Cork 1812; arr. Sydney 1813). Regards Ian Jordan
