Dear Listers, I found a few possible death notices for my relative, Ethel Crombie Young, (b. Feb. 1884), in the Ryerson index. My problem is that I have no idea where she died. She was married 1914 in Woollahra, husband George died in 1932 in Chatswood, and place names on photos suggest she might later have lived in Casino, Coraki & Mudgee. Are Greenacre, Glen Innes, Bondi Junction or Lismore near any of the aforementioned towns? Ethel was living in NSW in 1965 but that's all I know, and I have found discrepancies in her age - usually making her younger than she really was! I'm afraid the name is too common to pinpoint her in directories. Any other ideas? Secondly, I did send for her husband's death certificate, but nothing under spouse's name ("not given"), ditto for children. I was disappointed as his military record seemed to indicate otherwise, when he had pay deducted for his wife & children. Also, no wife or children named on his tombstone, and Ethel is not buried in that cemetery. So, I'm just curious if this was an exception to the usual practice? If so, can anyone offer an possible explanation? Of course I realize they may not have had any children. George's widow did not remarry. Greatly appreciative of any suggestions, Christine Draisey Iowa, USA

Hi Christine There really arent many Ethel YOUNGs in comparison to ones with middle names aka Ethel May ............. are alot of them I went thru the deaths on line and pick out the Ethel YOUNG who d Lismore in 1973 . This death is also in Ryerson . Ask for a look up and keep your fingers crossed ............. > She was married 1914 in Woollahra, husband George died in > 1932 in Chatswood, Where did he die, what of , where buried , what was his occupation etc ? Chatswood then was the registration area name for most of Sydney's North Shore > and place names on photos suggest she might later have > lived in Casino, Coraki & Mudgee. Are Greenacre, Glen > Innes, Bondi Junction or Lismore near any of the > aforementioned towns? Havent we been thru this before ?? Casino and Coraki are in northern NSW not far from Lismore . Glen Innes is in the same area but further west . Mudgee is NW out from Sydney about 4-5 hours drive west of the Blue Mountains Greenacre is a western Sydney suburb , I thought most folk knew where Bondi was ? Bondi Junction is just a km or so inland from Bondi Beach, an eastern Sydney suburb > > Secondly, I did send for her husband's death certificate, > but nothing under spouse's name ("not given"), ditto for > children. I was disappointed as his military record > seemed to indicate otherwise, when he had pay deducted for > his wife & children. Death cert info is dependant on WHO did give the info . Bye MargM Beautiful NSW Central Coast NSW
