Hi Listers, I wonder if anyone can help me find what became of a longlost cousin, details as follows: Roy Morton LOMAS b1909 Bundaberg, Qld Parents: Bernice Amy BULLPITT (b1890 Bundaberg, d1972 Melbourne) and John Maunder Morton Gladstone LOMAS (b1885 Bundaberg, d1973 Sydney). Bernice and John's marriage broke up some time during the 1920s. In 1919 they are still living together in South Brisbane. The following information I have pieced together from the electoral rolls on ancestry. Bernice appears in 1924 in Melbourne (alone), the next sighting being still in Melbourne in 1931 with her cousin Theodore George Lovell who she married in 1942. John appears in 1930 with new wife Florence Gertrude (unknown), living in Randwick NSW. I've not found any marriage for them in either NSW or QLD. In 1933, Roy and his wife Ethel May ALEXANDER (m1932 Marrickville NSW) moves in with his father, and Roy and Ethel and John and Florence live together intermittently in Randwick until at least 1943. In 1949, Roy is living with Cecile and Patricia Norma LOMAS in Paddington NSW but is nowhere to be found in 1954. I can find no LOMAS family connection between Roy and Cecile and Patricia. I suspect Patricia was Cecile's daughter (she married Mervyn PAYNTER in 1949 but can find no record of Cecile marrying despite going back to 1920. In 1949-1954, Roy's wife Ethel is still living in Randwick next to John and Florence. She died in 1961, Sydney. Florence died Randwick 1969, John in Sydney 1973. I can't find any trace of Roy in QLD, NSW or VIC electoral rolls or BMDs, or on the NAA site. I would imagine he would have died more than 10 years ago, so have also searched online at Rookwood and Eastern Suburbs Cemeteries. I would love to know what became of him, and whether Cecile was related to him or whether the shared (but uncommon) surname was purely coincidental. Can anyone offer any suggestions or illumination? Hi Lyn, There is a death in NSW for Cecile LOMAS 1970/2796 Father: Thomas Francis, Mother Josephine District: Sydney Marriage for a Cecile FARRELL to Leonard LOMAS 1906/5957 District: Sydney I know this would then make her about 60 + in 1949 and Patricia in her 30's 40's when she got married? hope this helps in some way regards Kerry
