I know a friends Canadian grandparents left Alberta in 1914 , trained across Canada ,by ship to London and then another ship to Sydney........... Maybe there werent many ships that sailed west from Canada across the Pacific ?? One data base we have which is still " under construction" is http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home Our National Library is digitising many early newspapers to 1955 and all sorts of things are popping up ...........
