    3. Dear Folks, Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year for 2010. I am interested in finding the marriage of Millicent Clare FOOTE and Minor Earl BARTLETT. Milicent was the daughter of Clarence Henry FOOTE and Ruby Stella WHITE. She was born in Gunnedah on the 25th July 1908. She became a teacher and taught in Newcastle, Duddley (she was living at the Oceanview Hotel whilst there) and in Sydney. In 1943 Millicent was teaching at sydney Church of England Girls Grammar School (SCEGGS) at Darlinghurst. She was living at 108 Clapton Place, Darlinghurst. The family story has Millicent marrying a gentleman by the name of Minor Earl BARTLETT. I have checked the Electoral Rolls for 1949 and 1953-54 without success. Does anyone out there know of this couple? Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can look? I have checked the NSW BDM Index for the marriage or death of the couple. There is no listing in the Ryerson Index for their death. 3. Hi Glynis, A google search for the name "Minor Earl BARTLETT" threw up this link in America for the obituary of a lady named Johnnie BERNHARD who grew up in San Antonio; the obituary mentions her father Minor Earl BARTLETT and her brother Minor Earl BARTLETT, jnr. It made me think that perhaps Millicent may have been an American War Bride, and moved to the USA post-1944, so I tried to search a bit further. http://www.harpertalasek.com/services.asp?locid=33&page=odetail&id=11311 The IGI threw up the following information when I searched for "Millicent Clare BARTLETT" - Name: Millicent BARTLETT Birth Date: 25 July 1908 Death Date: 6 May 2002 Social Security Number: 458-44-8787 State or Territory where number was issued: Texas Death residence localities: ZIP Code: 78228; Localities: San Antonio, Bexar, Texas There is a possible match for Minor BARTLETT - Name: Minor BARTLETT Birth Date: 17 September 1915 Social Security Number: 456-01-4012 State or Territory where number was issued: Texas The 1881 Census for USA has Minor E BARTLETT aged 8 years, son of Milton and Mary BARTLETT in Vigo, Knox, Indiana - this may be Minor's father and grandparents? 3. Hi Trish and fellow listers, Thanks to your efforts, I have found that Millicent travelled from Manila, Phillipines to San Francisco on the USNA "Fred C Ainsworth" on the 14th December 1951. She was travelling under the name of BARTLETT. I have now got Minor Earl BARTLETT's death certificate from Texas, USA on which it states his spouse is Millicent BARTLETT. I, also have Minor's enlistment details. He was in the USA Army Air Corps. I would hazard a guess that Millicent joined Minor at the Clark Air Force Base in the Phillipines prior to her travelling with other war brides to USA. Does any one know where the Australian War Brides would have married? Is there any data bases that have recorded War Birdes going to USA? Many thanks for your assistance in advance, Glynis Wheeler > >> I am interested in finding the marriage of Millicent Clare FOOTE and >> Minor >> Earl BARTLETT. >> Milicent was the daughter of Clarence Henry FOOTE and Ruby Stella WHITE. >> She was born in Gunnedah on the 25th July 1908.
