Hello, Back in the "old days" of computers and internet, i.e. the last Millenium, plain text was all the rage (but you don't often hear of it today). Indeed anyone back then NOT using plain text would very often incur the wrath or extreme displeasure of internet email list participants. There are, or were, very good reasons for all this that I possible *could* go into -- but it would be tedious as all the potential problems modern computers just now take in their stride and are problems no more. One of the main former problems was the (invisible) HTML tags in messages and the different VERSIONS of HTML developing. I used to experience it myself for quite some time. I use Ozemail (now taken over by iiNet) and their former webmail problem had some sort of glitch dealing with stuff coming from NSW Politicans (Ministers' offices) based in Sydney .. And/or Councils .. which commonality shows both Councils and State Government must have been using the same 'system' and the particular problem was that when emails came from such they would be BLANK !! One had to try and contact them and say "please send as 'plain text'" - and then all would suddenly be revealed. That particular problem went away and it has been years now since I've heard of anyone having problems. ... but if you do get readability problems just ask the sender "Please resend as plain text'. For nothing can 'go wrong' with plain text (unlike XML, dHTML or other heavily tagged/formatted texts?). Anyway that's what I think. It's an option in your email program. i.e. in MS Outlook under Options you can choose Plain Text, HTML or Rich Text. It all depends on your default settings and the format of the message you're replying to. By just typing without adding fancy script styles doesn't change an HTML email to Plain Text. Regards .......
